In literacy we read a poem about a robot that had stopped working and doing jobs around the house.
The students designed their own robot and wrote a description about what it helped to do.

Save the Endangered Animals
During literacy a group have been leading their own research and inquiry into endangered animals.
They decided to present their findings in posters to inform people about why these animals are endangered. Some of the reasons were habitat loss, hunting, and humans.
Look out for these around Tautoru.

More Kandinsky art
In the afternoons we have been looking at the art of Kandinsky. We completed a large hip hop inspired Kandinsky last week with the students from Autahi.
This week we have been working on smaller versions of our own designs.

Mystery Skype with Goodwood School
MYSTERY SKYPE
Hi! We did a mystery skype today and it was our first time winning this year thanks to Cruz. A Mystery Skype is when you ask questions to help you to find out where their school is and what the name of the school is. They were very close to guessing our school. They said, Miramar Central and Miramar North and found out that we are near the Roxy Cinema.
We won and Cruz did guess it as we looked at different schools on Google Maps. Their school was Goodwood School.

Maths
We are learning about time . We tried to guess how long a minute is, without looking at the clock. Some of us stood up after 35 seconds, lots stood up close to a minute and some at 1 minute and 15 seconds. It is hard to guess without looking.
Then we had to see how many times we could write our name in a minute, if we could hold our arms in the air for a minute and stand on one leg for a minute.

Reading
On Monday the weather was so nice that we did our reading outside on top grass. We talked about our stories, read our books in our reading groups and then did some buddy reading. Some of us looked very relaxed when we were reading!
PE
Today at PE we practised our catching, throwing, kicking and bouncing and then in pairs we made up a new game. We taught it to another pair and played the game. We had to use collaboration and team work, as well as a bit of resilience at times. It was fun.
Kandinsky Art
At transition last Friday, Scott and all the children who will be in Tautoru next year, created a piece of Kandinsky art. Everyone contributed and worked together collaboratively to create this beautiful mural.

Chris' Garden
Chris' Garden on PhotoPeach
Chris wanted to take us to his garden but it is a bit of a walk so he shared some photos with us today. We were fascinated with the lettuce growing out of the side of his house. He thought that he might have dropped seeds by accident.
