2D and 3D Geometry

This week we have started learning about Geometry through Art!

Many of you hunted around your house and backyard to find that there are shapes all around us. Some drew pictures out of shapes and others cut out shapes to create an art piece.

Check out some of the fabulous creations below!

We are Superstar Seesaw Users!

As we are nearing the end of Level 3, staff at Worser Bay School have been reflecting on our time during online learning. We have come across many gems throughout our online and virtual teaching time!

One of these gems we have noticed is the huge growth in Seesaw skills from Tautoru kids. Seesaw has been such a useful tool to stay connected, practise new and old skills and to share learning. We have noticed children becoming much more confident to use Seesaw and are completing the tasks with more and more tech savvy skills each week. Whether it be adding captions or recordings to explain their thinking, using the typing, drawing or shapes tools to describe or label their learning or simply posting photos of their work.

We want to say a great big thank you to whānau for supporting our Tautoru kids in developing these skills. You have been a key part of making this online learning successful and enjoyable for our students.

What Do You Do With An Idea?

There is a wonderful book called What Do You Do With An Idea? by Kobi Yamada. It inspires us to think about Creativity and let our imagination grow to create wonderful things. Hayley (and this week Lucy) have been helping us tap into having ideas and getting creative.

Our Blue Planet Inquiry- Plants of Aotearoa

As part of our inquiry into our Blue Planet, for Home Learning this week we have been learning more about Plants. We have been investigating them more closely. What parts are they made of?
We got to dissect and classify the different parts of plants. We are being real scientists by observing closely and learning the names of different parts and types of plants.

We've also been identifying native plants and weeds.

Kindness Cards

It is very strange at the moment being away from all of our friends at school.
I really miss seeing all your friendly faces and hearing your funny stories.

So this is a good time to think about someone who you could give a kindness card or drawing to.
It might be someone in your bubble, or you could go for a walk and put it in the letterbox of a friend...?

Here are a few ideas to get you started...

Draw a picture, write a letter, include some jokes, anything you like!
Then roll it up and tie it with a ribbon and place somewhere for them to find.

Make an envelope, decorate it and put your letter inside.
Put it in a friends letter box or somewhere for your family to find (like under a pillow!).
Don't forget to put their name on it!

Make some little cards with notes attached to a string and hang it somewhere for them to discover...

Or try making them a Warm Fuzzy Friend like this...it can have all of the things you like and miss about them written either on the front or back of it.
Such a nice thing to receive.

Have a go at one of these...or try your own idea.

(Don't forget to put a photo of it on Seesaw so I can see what you create!)

Art Recreations

Even though we can't visit Museums and Art Galleries at the moment, we can still enjoy the art in other ways. People across the world have been recreating famous paintings. If you would like to add to our Art Gallery, please post your recreations to the Padlet below.
