Wig Wednesday

On Wednesday the 21st of June the Child Cancer Foundation is doing a Wig Wednesday.

Everyone will wear a wig to school and do a gold coin donation to Child Cancer Foundation.
It is for the kids who had lost their hair during treatment.
There will be a donation bucket at each base group.

Ko te aha tenei ra?

This is our daily calendar that we are using to start our day. Soon we will be learning to ask "What is the weather like?" in Te Reo.

We have been learning how to ask and answer questions in Te Reo. Our phrases this term are:

Ko te aha tenei ra?                   Ko te aha tenei marama?
(What is the day today?)                       (What is the month?)

Last term we became really confident in asking how someone was feeling and knowing how to answer ourselves. We are persevering to keep using this phrase in Tautoru everyday.

It would be so whakamataku (awesome) if we all give it a go at home. Our challenge is to try and ask/answer one phrase in Te Reo everyday at school and at home.

Below is a pronunciation sheet to help you get started at home. Learning Te Reo is tonnes of ngahau (fun).

Measuring in centimetres.

Scott and Wanwan's maths groups have been working on an inquiry about measurement.

We worked with a buddy to measure a number of items around the class using a ruler.

We then compared our predictions and the actual measurements.

Neon Day

Well done to the Social Student Council Group for organising such a colourful day!

Thursday 1 June, what a great day!
Everyone stood out because they were wearing neon clothes. We had a awesome parade with awesome winners. We hope to do it again next year. By Mia and Molly

What animals lived in New Zealand in the past?

Scott's base group have been wondering about the past.

We have asked a number of questions about Maori, life, and animals in the past. We have explored our school environment and looked at trees that Maori used and also researched about extinct NZ animals.

Today we research about Moa and other extinct NZ birds.

Here are some sketches .....
