Buddy reading

Today we showed kindness, curiosity and team work when we were buddy reading in Autahi.

Dragon Music and Dance

Dragon music and dance.
Today we used the character strength of "Creativity" to make up a tune with instruments,
using a Dragon score.
Then we walked around the school sharing our Chinese New Year dragon dance.

Tautoru Tadpoles

We have been so lucky to have some teeny tiny visitors in Tautoru since school started! Thanks to Solly and his mum, we have had three tadpoles to watch over.

Last week after one had turned into a frog, Solly thought it would be a good idea to release it back into a pond before it grew too big.

There are two tadpoles left and they are growing bigger everyday. All of us in Tautoru have been observing them closely to see how they change as the days go by.

This week Eloi (a very keen observer) drew the life cycle of a frog and wrote a great piece of writing about what he has noticed happening to the tadpoles.

Where's Wally? No, Where's FROGGY?

Since the beginning of the term, Tautoru is super lucky to have some "friends" to join us.  Thanks to Solly and his family for sharing them with Tautoru!

We are all very excited to have these little friends, tadpoles.

Here is a photo of one that turned into a frog!

Wait. WHERE IS THE FROG??

Here it is if you didn't see it in the first picture!

We will have more updates on our little friends from some writing!

He waka eke noa

This week we have all been learning about the importance of the waka. We watched a video that showed us how each person in a waka is part of a team and responsible for making their waka travel fast through the water.

Tautoru is our waka. It is the place where we come together to discover, learn and achieve great things. We all need to work together for our waka to succeed.

We have each decorated our own waka paddle. On our paddle we have written something we can do to help Tautoru succeed.

Next week we will put our waka together. Make sure you pop by and have a look at our collaborative project. We can't wait to see how it will turn out.
