Out of this World!
At Clyde Quay School, students in Pohutakawa Class are learning this solar system song for their production. http://pohucqs.blogspot.co.nz/2016/05/production-songs.html We like the song so we are going to learn it too! Learn the song: Tautoru Songs
As part of our Inquiry, we have been learning about how the moon causes the tides to change. Our students have shown an interest in the solar system.
Today were using drama to show how tides change as the moon orbits the Earth. For more info visit: sites.google.com/a/worserbay.school.nz/matarikiwbs/tides

Bullying display
Come in and have a look at our Anti-Bullying display. We made:
1. helping hands to show that everyone has a role to play in preventing and responding to bullying situations
2. waka which signified working together to prevent bullying, heading in the same direction and cooperating for a common goal
3. posters which unpacked the ideas of forgiveness, perseverance, creativity, gratitude, kindness and bravery
4. whatu pokaka, which are baby blankets lined with feathers to make us feel warm, comfortable, safe and secure from the elements, and ours show what happens at our school to make us feel valued and that we have a sense of belonging.

Remember Poems
Summer by Marci Ridlon
Have you ever smelled summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time
Remember how the warm sun smelled and the
That was summer.
Remember that time
Remember how the bark smelled then
- all dusty dry, but nice?
That was summer.
Remember that time
Remember how the pavement smelled
- all steamy warm and wet?
That was summer.
If you try very hard
It took you a long time to pull
Do you remember smelling the sunshine?
That was summer.
Here are some of our poems...

Bullying
This is shared writing by students in Nicola and Chrissy's base groups.
What is bullying?
Bullying is being mean to someone over and over again. It can happen online (cyber bullying) or face to face (either physical or mental). Examples of bullying are laughing at someone, punching someone or swearing at someone.
What can we do about bullying?
If you see others being bullied you could stick up for them or you could defend them. It is really important to say stop! When you are being bullied you could walk away. If the bullying continues you should tell an adult. Make sure that if you see someone being bullied you help them. It is not ok to be a bystander.
Be a proud person, not an easy target.
We did some role playing about what to do if we see bullying.

If You Learned Here Book Published...
If You Learned Here book is ready to download...
We are so proud of all of our students for their contributions to the project. It has been fantastic to connect with other schools across the globe.
They’ve hosted the book in Google Drive for downloading. Here are some tips for getting the book...
- Download it on a computer.
- If downloading on the iPad, be patient! After tapping the Download Anyway button, there is quite a delay before “Open in iBooks” appears.
- For viewing on a computer, use Readium (for Google Chrome) or Calibre.
- If the ePub format proves challenging, try using the PDF instead.
