Assembly 21.8.15

This morning we had a brilliant assembly. Autahi shared some great lighthouse art. Tautoru shared some writing about the community they also shared a song about a doughnut shop. Matariki and Mahutonga shared some poems. We sang a new song called Budapest. Hamish had a huge pile of awards to give out! The focus has been on using Maanakitanga.

We had heaps of fun with the time telling. Here's some feedback we gave about the lessons. Jupiter thought that the numbers around the outside of the clock were really helpful for knowing the minutes. Lizzie liked that we got to make our own clocks. Jessie thought it was fun that everyone got a turn!

We have been working on time and reading clocks. We made our own clocks and made a human sized clock. We had to figure out who would be the minute and hour hands and then we came up with a time and showed it. Can you tell what time each clock shows?

For work on writing during daily 5 today these guys worked on word power

In maths we've been exploring time. We've been estimating how much of something we can do in a minute and then measuring it. We've found that a minute is a lot longer than we thought--especially when you're doing star jumps or sit-ups!

We've been working on word families and building our bank of words. This is the -an word family word power.

Reading to Someone

I like reading to a buddy during Daily 5. Today I was reading a book called Food Patterns. When I read to a buddy I have to use a readers voice. It needs to be clear and I need to use a characters voice when I am reading the character's part in the book.
