Volume and Capacity--we're exploring measurement again. This time looking at volume and capacity. Each group had to order their containers from holds the most to holds the least and they had to be able to justify their reasoning. One group measured each container using the smallest cup while another group compared by pouring the amount of water into another cup and seeing if the water overflowed.

The Big Shakeout and Emergency Evacuation
Drop, Cover and Hold |
The Big Shakeout and Emergency Evacuation is scheduled for: Thursday 15 October, 9.15 am and 2.30 pm
While we will take part in the earthquake drill at 9.15 am, this is a great opportunity to test our systems regarding emergency evacuation. This will be a bit of an unknown in reality.....
So, what will happen
- Parents will get a re
mi nder email and text from the school office at two different times of the day leading up to the 2.30pmpick up .
This will allow us to check these systems at our end and also for you to double check you haven't got a new mobile number or email address lately! - If you are unable to collect your child yourself, you will need to contact someone on your Emergency Contact List.
- Children will remain in
class spaces at 2.30 pm. - Staff will be at both school entrances with lists of children's names and nominated contacts who can pick the child/
ren up. (If wet, we will let you know where.) - Parents or their nominated contacts will see a staff member who will check the list and provide them with a WBS stamped piece of paper with the child's name on it.
- This piece of paper will be taken to a staff member who is with the children in the class space and only then will the child be ticked off and able to leave.
- We will keep ECAT (After School Care) children
here but please ensure you have returned your emergency contacts.
If a child is not collected by yourselves or a nominated emergency contact at 2.30pm, we will record this and follow up with you. As we are not sure how the system will work in reality, you may want to arrive from 2.15 pm so there isn't such a queue!

Singing "Home"
We are learning this song as a duet. The girls are learning one part and the boys the other. We are hoping to get really good and to share it in assembly next term. Help us practise!
Here are the lyrics
Girls: Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my Ma & Pa
Not the way that I do love you
Boys: Holy Moley, Me-oh-My, you're the apple of my eye
Girl, I've never loved one like you
Girls: Man, oh man, you're my best friend,
I scream it to the nothingness
There ain't nothin' that I need
Boys: Well, hot & heavy, pumpkin pie,
chocolate candy, Jesus Christ
There ain't nothin' please me more than you
All: Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I'm with you (2x)
La la la la, take me Home
Mama, I'm coming Home
Boys: I'll follow you into the park,
through the jungle, through the dark
Girl, I've never loved one like you
Girls: Moats & boats & waterfalls,
alley ways & pay phone calls
I've been everywhere with you
Boys: That's true
Boys: We laugh until we think we'll die,
barefoot on a summer night
Never could be sweeter than with you.
Girls: And in the streets we're running free,
like i's only you and me
Geez, you're somethin' to see.
All: Ahh, Home
Let me come Home
Home is wherever I'm with you (2x)
La la la la, take me Home
Mama, I'm coming Home
Singular and Plural
We are learning about singular and plural nouns this week. Singular is one thing and plural is more than one. For example, toys is plural and pencil is singular. Most plural words end in an s.

Animals in Danger
During reading today we were reading about Animals in Danger. We found out about rare or extinct animals and what has been the cause and effect of this. The buffalo has almost became extinct because of hunters. The dinosaur became extinct either from an asteroid hitting earth or an eruption.

The Wellington Cable Car By Stephanie
THE WELLINGTON CABLE CAR
The wheels roll, the wheels roll, in the sunny bright Wellington breeze.
Through the dark tunnel, through the dark tunnel in the sunny bright Wellington breeze.
Right down to the bottom, right down the bottom in the sunny bright Wellington breeze.
Load in the people, load in the people in the sunny bright Wellington breeze.
Back up to the top, back up to the top in the sunny bright Wellington breeze.
End of the line end of the line.
