Upcycle it!

Another task this week was to upcycle some things around home to create something new! We had castles, games and many other crazy things!

Find some things around the house that you no longer need and get creative! You could even create something new that your household needs, like a book or device stand. You could make a hut to escape in to do your home learning! Have a go!

Get creative with writing!

It has been great to see lots of families involved on Seesaw. This week's writing task was to write some instructions on how to play a game. We loved seeing your Creativity when thinking of new games to make and when writing the instructions of how to play. Just remember, the instructions need to be specific. Your reader has no idea how to play the game!

Here are some other super ways some of us have been getting our writing practise in, including writing observations from the science experiment on Seesaw! Some are writing crazy, silly stories with spelling words too!

Will it Sink or Float?

One of the activities our students worked on as part of their home learning programme was an experiment around density - whether the egg would float or sink. It was so awesome to see everyone's enthusiasm and Love of Learning shining through.

When you put the salt into the water, you can see it dissolving. It looks like the salt disappears but it's actually still there, just mixed together! If you give it a taste it will be VERY salty...
The salt in the water makes the water more dense so the egg floats!

If you haven't tried this experiment yet, have a go! Science learning is fun! It's a great opportunity to get some writing practise in too. Write your predictions down and then what you observe happening while you do the experiment!

Check out some of Tautoru putting their scientist caps on and observing what is happening in the experiment.

Term 2 Home Learning in our Bubbles

Tautoru has started the term doing lots of interesting types of learning. We have been doing some of the tasks shared by teachers but also learning by doing things alongside our whānau like cooking. Here are some of the things we've been up to in our Home Learning for the first few days of Term 2.

Artistic tie-dying. These will make awesome colourful outfits!

Delicious and interesting food making

Science experiments from our home learning plan

Maths in different ways (and people are really enjoying Sumdog!)

And brightening our families and communities day by writing kind messages and showing gratitude.

We are very grateful that we can work together in different ways to keep learning in our bubbles.
