Out of this World!

At Clyde Quay School, students in Pohutakawa Class are learning this solar system song for their production. http://pohucqs.blogspot.co.nz/2016/05/production-songs.html We like the song so we are going to learn it too! Learn the song: Tautoru Songs

As part of our Inquiry, we have been learning about how the moon causes the tides to change. Our students have shown an interest in the solar system.

Today were using drama to show how tides change as the moon orbits the Earth. For more info visit: sites.google.com/a/worserbay.school.nz/matarikiwbs/tides

Surf the Sea, not the Debris!

As part of our inquiry about change, we are learning about rock pools. We have been thinking about how to preserve our marine life and keep our beach tidy.

Today we put an elastic band around our hand and put the other hand behind our back. We had to try and get the elastic band off of our hands without using any other body parts. We did not succeed. This shows that you shouldn't throw anything into the sea as it might hurt our marine life!

We talked about how litter can affect sea life. Sometimes turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish.

We are making posters to tell people not to throw rubbish on the beach. Watch this space...
