Afternoon music sessions

In the afternoons groups have been experimenting with instruments to create musical pieces. We have been exploring how to make a variety of sounds and then working together to compose songs.

Our Punctuation Orchestra

When we have been talking about reading goals with our students, some of them said that they wanted to learn more about punctuation. This is the punctuation pyramid. It has 5 levels of punctuation. We have made an action and a sound for each one.

This is us having a go at the punctuation orchestra.

See it for yourselves at assembly on Friday!

Colour, Colour and more Colour!

We have been experimenting and changing colour and learning about different artists...we mixed lots of different colours to make sure colours and now we have been painting and writing about our own interpretations...check out our video and some of our great writing!

Surf the Sea, not the Debris!

As part of our inquiry about change, we are learning about rock pools. We have been thinking about how to preserve our marine life and keep our beach tidy.

Today we put an elastic band around our hand and put the other hand behind our back. We had to try and get the elastic band off of our hands without using any other body parts. We did not succeed. This shows that you shouldn't throw anything into the sea as it might hurt our marine life!

We talked about how litter can affect sea life. Sometimes turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish.

We are making posters to tell people not to throw rubbish on the beach. Watch this space...

Here we are working hard on our posters...

Rock Pools Around the World

As part of our inquiry, we are finding out about rock pools. We would like to compare and contrast the rock pools close to us with rock pools from around the world. Can you help? Do you have relatives and friends that live close to rock pools in other places. We would love to hear from them and find out more about what is out there.

Thanks,

Tautoru Kids

Ball Skills

Shared Writing by Hunter R, Rim, and Lily V:

We have been doing PE with Shona. We have been learning how to throw and catch balls. We've been learning to roll the ball to our partner and run back to where we were. We have also been bouncing the ball and throwing it into the air. We have been using balls in different ways. It's great to stay fit and use the outside space.
