Mystery Skype with Goodwood School

MYSTERY SKYPE
Hi! We did a mystery skype today and it was our first time winning this year thanks to Cruz. A Mystery Skype is when you ask questions to help you to find out where their school is and what the name of the school is. They were very close to guessing our school. They said, Miramar Central and Miramar North and found out that we are near the Roxy Cinema.
We won and Cruz did guess it as we looked at different schools on Google Maps. Their school was Goodwood School.

Connecting and Collaborating

Our focus this term is collaborating. Our Year 3 students have been helping our younger students to use Google Apps for Education (GAFE). Our Year 1 and 2 students have their own folders in our shared account. We are writing for our project, "If you learned here." We had a great morning connecting with people that we don't usually work with.

Google Apps for Education: Setting up our Year 3 students

Google Accounts have been successfully set up for students in the seniors.  Setting up Google Accounts for Year 3 children will assist with the transition from the juniors to the seniors.

A major focus that underlies everything is digital citizenship. Students have taken home the WBS Acceptable Use of Technologies, developed by them and their teachers. They will have discussed it with you and it has been signed and returned to school. Safety is paramount and we take this very seriously.

Here is a link to the agreement:

Year 3 children, who have signed our Acceptable Use of Technologies Agreement, will be set up with Google Accounts during Term 1.

We are excited about the opportunities that will prepare our children for a future that will be very different to our own.

Please speak with Nicola, Shona, Scott or Chrissy if you have any questions

ICT Afternoon Group

In the ICT afternoon group, we have been exploring different apps on the iPad. Today we used imovie, imovie trailer and pic collage to display our collaborative group work.

Our disaster posters: As a group, we had to think of a disaster and how we would escape from that place. We had to think about objects that we might need.

This is what we came up with...

Club day was a success! We mixed up with seniors and juniors, new teachers and new spaces. Our club is the ICT and team building groups. We had to work together to cross the minefield and plan how we'd get off a deserted island. Watch this space for some videos explaining our strategies!
